Today is my day to be productive. Time to make medical phone calls.
Now, most medical phone calls can be as simple as reaching a receptionist and booking a simple appointment, or calling a pharmacist and ordering refills of medications. But some phone calls end up making you feel as though you have gone in circles - usually because you have.
So:
First phone call was to one pharmacy to book my monthly injection. That was fairly easy.
Second phone call was to my other pharmacy (I only have two because there is no one at my main pharmacy qualified to do the specific injection that I need), and get refills of prescriptions and to ask what refills have run out. Great! Easy!
Third phone call is to my family doctor to book an appointment to prescribe those refills that have run out.
Awesome.
Two appointments booked this week now.
Fourth phone call - insurance.
When I spoke with my case manager last week, I had asked her about some of my benefits and what exactly they cover. She gave me a phone number - we'll call it #A so that it's easy to keep track - that I needed to call. She also gave me my plan number.
So I call #A. First person I speak to says that my plan number is not the correct one. So I grab my insurance card and spout off another number. She THEN tells me that the information I need is in a different department, and I need to call #B. Okay.
So I call #B. Right in the recording it says that if I need information on disability coverage, I need to call #A. But I decide to press 0 and speak to a person to get it sorted. Once I tell her the second plan #, she immediately forwards me to the voicemail of my case manager....
I had to leave a message, but I hate spending twenty minutes just trying to get to the correct department - and then having no success.
Oh yeah - and the website offers details on certain benefit plans, but does not offer details on disability benefits. So I HAVE to call.
Hopefully she will get back to me with a new number or the name of someone I can speak with.
Yay phone calls.
