Starting the Day Off Right

Weakness is a major and common factor in the lives of those with chronic illness. Fatigue, exhaustion, lethargy, and weakness.
Add painful and stiff joints to the equation and it becomes more and more difficult to get out of bed.

Now that the sun is shining and we are starting to have warmer weather more often, it's a good kick in the butt to get out there and enjoy some sunshine.

I try and do a little but of yoga every day - and it is the most useful in the mornings or when I am first getting out of bed. There are many reasons for this:

1. It motivates me to get dressed into an outfit fit for exercise.
2. It allows me to assess my energy levels, my pain levels, and my overall core strength - helps me understand what I need to work on.
3. It gives me that calm kind of serenity during and afterwards - especially when paired with spa music, birdsong, or just being out in the forest near the mountains.
4. It motivates me to eat better, healthier, and focuses my mind on what needs to get done that particular day.

Today - after doing my morning 'get moving' sequence, I realize that I am very weak, very shaky, and easily out of breath. What does this mean? This means that I know that I have to rest most of today. I will make some good meals that have protein and iron, get some much-needed sunshine, and then do another sequence later in the day. I will also have to prioritize what NEEDS to be done today and what can wait until tomorrow. My energy is low enough as it is today and I should not push myself to do much more than needed. It is a very fine line between pushing myself to gain strength and pushing myself too far and crashing.

Here is my 'get moving' sequence for today:
