I just recently watched a YouTube video of a guy who bought a slimming tea to help him lose weight, and what catastrophes ensued.
Click here to watch the video.
The short version is that he ended up so violently ill he compared it to a shuttle launch in the washroom and believed he had food poisoning - for several days.
This is a shining example of why those 'slim tea' types of brands can be dangerous.
Just because it is in tea form (not pills) does not mean that it is safe. 'Natural' DOES NOT EQUATE safety.
As with all things, moderation is key. Even herbal teas can become dangerous if you are having numerous cups each day.
Sure it can help you lose weight, but it can prevent you from absorbing other nutrients and can dramatically change how your intestines function.
It *can* create a dependence and can induce an eating disorder.
Plus, it hurts like hell and the bathroom scenes can become pretty horrific.
I wish people would use as much caution with 'natural' products as they do with the 'big scary evil' pharmaceutical products. Both should be thoroughly tested and should list all possible adverse reactions, along with stats of efficacy and actual peer reviewed research.
(Although, the bulk of natural ingredients/plants HAVE be thoroughly tested... and then they have been improved upon and modified so there are fewer adverse or unpredictable effects, or so that some of them are no longer COMPLETELY poisonous to consume, and more targeted results.... and then produced, tested, tested, reviewed, tested some more, reviewed, studied, tested, reviewed, studied, re-produced, reviewed, tested, tested, reviewed, then patented.... as medication).
Like Foxglove, Chamomile, Mint, Willow Bark, Cocoa beans, Deadly Nightshade, Poppy, Birch, Pineapple, Papaya, Crocus, Lily-of-the-Valley, Turmeric, Ephedra, Licorice, Tobacco, Mayapple, White Willow, Milk Thistle, Mandrake, Thyme, just to name a few.... (Simply google plant-based medications, or medications derived from plants, etc...)
Just my opinion.
