Buffet Luck

Although I have been able to eat more without getting terribly ill, I am still sticking to IBD-friendly foods.
So when we went to a Christmas Party where there was a buffet, I was pretty nervous that they wouldn't have much that I could eat, and was mentally preparing to skip dinner entirely.

I was very pleasantly surprised!!

They had potato salad - where I only took the potatoes themselves, mashed potatoes, couscous, white bread dinner rolls, small pieces of white fish, and the main meat was turkey instead of beef!! The dessert table was filled with cake, mousse, cheesecake, custard, and lemon meringue tarts, all in nice small portions.
So even on a soft food diet, I had a lot to choose from!!
Of course I still could not eat much, but at least I got to enjoy a really great variety that didn't have me doubled-over in pain.

Compared to my first 10 years with IBD, the food options available now are so much better! It's really nice to know that even during these big flares, I don't have to search for hours finding food that is gentle on my guts AND flavourful.

Total buffet win!
