Nerves

Tonight will by my 6th injection of Cosentyx - a biologic to help reduce some symptoms from my Ankylosing Spondylitis.
I am more nervous for this injection, even though I have been on it for three months already.

I have previously developed allergies to other biologics, particularly TNF-antagonists, but there is a high chance I could develop an allergy to Cosentyx as well. There are also many risks with the medication itself - like the potential for it to worsen my IBD, greater chance of developing b-cell based Cancers (although those are the types that have been responding positively to that new Cancer Vaccine that is starting clinical human trials), as well as the classic list of potential adverse effects.

Outside of all of the above, I am actually more nervous because of how I am feeling in general. With such a large episode recently, I am more prone to another episode, and although we are pretty certain that the episode arose from a combination of stressful factors coupled with a dental appointment, there is no guarantee that it was not caused by this new medication.

So tonight, while Ryan is home, we will get a bag ready to go to the ER if need be, I will wait until AFTER rush hour, then make sure I am properly dressed in case we have to immediately make our way to the ER.

Although I am nervous, all of this is simply precautionary. I do not believe the Cosentyx is the culprit, nor do I believe that I will have a respiratory reaction to the injection this evening.
With that said, it never hurts to be just a little more prepared.

And now -> naptime!!!
