Not Quite There Yet

For whatever reason, back in September my Crohn's started to reeeeeally act up. I had to completely limit my diet to full fluids and Boost was, once again, my new best friend. After weeks of being able to have Boost, a little bit of bread, some mashed potatoes, avocado, essentially soft foods and full fluids, things still weren't getting much better.

I would say that within the last month, maybe a little longer (about 5 months of restricted eating), I started experimenting a little more and was not having as much trouble as before. I am making small changes, not big ones, but it did seem to settle just a little bit.
With this attempt to widen my dietary choices, I have also been researching options that my intestines can handle while also being part of a plant-based diet. The good news is that, except for meat and fish that we eat semi-regularly, a lot of my other options have been part of this dietary program.
The bad news is that my intestines still aren't ready for it.
I tried having edamame beans tonight along with my butternut-squash-gnocchi. Being a softer bean with less gaseous results, I thought that they might be an okay choice... turns out I was wrong. My intestines are now giving me painful cramping hell because of it.

Well, now I know that any such veggies are still off of the menu. So even though I have been a little better in the last few weeks (having Boost once a day only and expanding to meats, shellfish, bread and avocados more often, even apple sauce, cherries, strawberries, etc...), my body is still not quite there yet.
Maybe in a few months. :)
