I have been seeing a lot of advertisement on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter etc... about tea that helps people lose weight.
What worries me is that the use of tea for weight loss has similar effects on the body as laxatives. Yes, it is a natural laxative, but it can cause similar side effects to those that are synthesized. This can include nasty bathroom issues that CAN become a chronic problem, cramping, nausea, and can even lead to a dependence on the laxative.
I am no expert, but if any of my friends are thinking of doing this, I would suggest that they please do their research on the product itself and even consult a dietician or nutritionist before going down this road.
The key to any weight loss program is to make sure that your diet is balanced properly and ensuring to maintain nutritional health.
'Slimming teas' may seem like an easy fix and 'too good to be true'.... Just be careful. Tea has MANY positive effects and when consumed properly, moderately; responsibly, it can have benefits that range from improved internal digestion and bloating all the way to improving the look of your skin. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE my teas, but actually drinking tea in order to lose weight can be a treacherous road.
Overuse of any type of laxative - natural or synthesized - is dangerous.
