Our fourth prize pack actually comes to you from Rare Disease Day originally.
The main painting is a celebration of rare diseases and celebrating wonderful lives and bravery through illness.
The decision to add this piece to a prize pack for Fight The Fusion is because, although arthritis is considered a common ailment, every person's experience of it is rare. No two people have the same symptoms or triggers. Many types of these autoimmune arthritis illnesses affect young people as much as the elderly, and this fundraiser is ultimately inclusive.
Yes we are focusing on arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis in particular, but this is just an extension of this new rise in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Arthritis is commonly a product or 'symptom' of another illness altogether. Having Crohn's Disease can result in arthritis. Having Psoriasis can result in arthritis. Having endometriosis has a link with arthritis.
Inflammation in our joints can be a disease all on its own, but tends to accompany a staggering number of autoimmune, inflammatory, painful, chronic conditions.
So anyone who has ever experienced inflammation, anyone who has ever been told that they have autoimmune disease - this fundraiser is also for you!
The 'Rare is Beautiful' painting celebrates all inflammation and pain warriors from all walks of life.
Also in this prize pack are two cds from Karissa Diane - whose lyrics often allude to various health struggles and the toll that disease takes on one's emotions.
