Obsession with Cooking

After going on countless diets to improve my Ulcerative Colitis (pre-surgery) and my Crohn's Disease (post-surgery), it was determined that it didn't really matter what I ate - the disease would not improve. Apart from a few select pieces of food (like popcorn, sesame seeds, etc...) that would risk a hospital visit... I decided that if every single thing I ate would cause pain and more ulcerations, I may as well eat well!
I fell in love with cooking and experimenting with flavors and spices. It's a past-time that I really, truly, enjoy! It makes me feel better that even if eating hurts every single time, it will taste good - because I make sure it does!!!

Sometimes, the desire to eat is diminished because of the pain it causes. I know a lot of friends can relate. One of my coping mechanisms is cooking. If I make something so delicious that I can't resist it, then I keep the desire to eat and do my best to get the nutrients that I need.
