Update before the New Year

Hey all!
I promise that I am going to try and write on the blog at least weekly, if not daily. I am going through some big life changes and my pain clinic program will get very busy and very intense in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will bring about some new experiences and some new ideas and coping strategies.

The first exciting endeavor is that I will be moving into a bungalow townhouse in the middle of January. This place has no stairs, is nicely finished, and is a better situation for me activity-wise. It will be lovely not to have to worry about stairs or elevators. :)

My first pelvic physiotherapy starts January 16th - hopefully this will prove to be helpful in the long run, although it might be excruciating during the appointments.

On a good note - I have been able to keep up with doing some yoga at home and all of my specific stretches for my SI joints, hips, lower back, shoulders, shoulder blades, and psoas muscles.

After the allergy to Humira, my doctor tried me on Simponi (which I had an acute allergic reaction to), so now I have started Enbrel. So far there has been no adverse reaction. It, unfortunately, is not helping the pain itself as of yet, but it IS improving mobility. I find that I am a little less stiff and I can walk fairly normally for about 10 minutes or so at a time, then I start limping.

Stretching does really help with mobility and gives some pain relief. Hopefully with physiotherapy and gaining some new information at the pain clinic, I can have my pain helped further.

I am really looking forward to the new year, to the new place, and to making some little changes that will help me. I'm also looking forward to less snow!!!
