This week has been really intense. It was a tough week... and this morning I woke up and thought that it was going to be an even tougher weekend.
BUT - this is where luck came in!
I woke up this morning and just felt ill. You know that feeling right before you get a flu? You can't quite figure out if you're too cold or too hot, your muscles ache for no real reason, you can't stand for more than a few minutes, you're not terribly nauseous but your stomach is a little unsettled, and you just can't quite get the energy to do much of anything. Well... this is what I felt like...
For some reason, though, today was one of those days where the amount of medication, the amount of food, and the general use of external resources to mediate my body temperature - something just clicked.
Finding the exact right balance of how much to eat, what to eat, how much medication to take, what combination of pain medication, muscle relaxants, anti-nauseants, is beyond difficult. I can honestly say that finding that perfect combination happens on rare occasions. A lot of times I will eat too much and my intestines will retaliate, or I won't eat quite enough so then the pain meds make the nausea unbearable. But today - I went from feeling like I would not be able to leave my house - to actually WANTING and having the ENERGY to leave my house, maybe go for lunch, and enjoy the day. Today, by pretty much all the stroke of luck, I found the perfect combination of food, activity, and medication. I feel pretty good today and I'm going to take advantage of it!!
Hooray for good luck!!
