Being a full-time patient means that you also can't really book holiday time off. It's like people who take vacations from their jobs but continue to check and respond to work phone calls and emails.
You can't get away and taking a break just piles on more for you to do when you get back.
This past week I had decided that I needed a few days off from going to doctor's appointments and getting diagnostic tests done. It was so nice to just sit and relax with my puppy, by all means. Only this next week I have even more to do and tons of phone calls to make, appointments to book, change, and confirm. I reeeeally need to pick up some of my medications, I need to reschedule appointments, and the real kicker is that my little three day 'vacation' doesn't actually mean that I get any kind of break from how sick I feel. Unfortunately, some symptoms are even worse.
Full-time patients may have the 'luxury' of not having a regular 9-5 job (and I say luxury in quotes because I really do miss being able to work).... But health doesn't take a vacation. If I am not on the ball all the time; 24/7; night and day - then I suffer more later for it.
So who do I go to about booking some holiday time? I could use a break ;).
