Before I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, when it was just Ulcerative Colitis, before both of my abdominal surgeries, I had to be on clear fluid diets pretty regularly.
My large intestine really truly couldn't handle food a lot of the time, I was getting Pancreatitis pretty frequently, and at one point I was having sigmoidoscopies about once a month just in the office and without sedation.
Anyone who knows me knows that I really am not a picky eater. I just love food... BUT on a clear fluid diet, I got sick of a lot of my 'options' fairly quickly. To this day I still won't eat jello on its own. Add pudding or fruit or vodka and I can maybe get it down... But it's not a top choice. Then, I absolutely despised broth. Now I can have it once in a while. And then, of course, popsicles! These I would only eat if they were the special swirly kind, the Rocket, or some fancy kind. All of that juice always clung to the back of my throat and I just really hates that feeling since I couldn't have anything to cut the after taste.
So most of the time, when it was a simple four day clear fluid diet, I literally preferred JUST drinking water.
Even now, when I have to prepare for scopes or small procedures, if I have to be on a clear fluid diet for a day or two, then I might BUY jello and popsicles but I will likely only have water.
So overall I am not a picky eater... Unless it's a clear fluid diet...
Yes, I know, a little strange.
