Overall it actually went better than usual. Being overly prepared paid off, they decided not to do any biopsies, the nurse was great placing the IV, and because of no biopsies, I am only dealing with major fatigue and a migraine tonight.
What we DID find out is that there is no possible way that my Crohn's or Chronic Pouchitis is causing the vomiting! This was a little disheartening. I was sure they would find some ulcerations in the stomach or something that would be contributing to the nausea and strange vomiting that I have been having for so long!!
What IS mentioned on the report is that the symptoms could be caused by:
1. Underlying C1 Esterase Inhibitor Deficiency and Angioedema (which makes the most sense).
2. Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome.
3. Speculated Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder (in conjunction with the Lupus and Sjogren's).
So now everything basically rides on what the Internist diagnoses me with.
The C1 Esterase Inhibitor Deficiency and Angioedema have been what every doctor/specialist has been thinking for the past year, and I was diagnosed with Angioedema back in 2012, but he was *hoping* it was drug induced. Now it is looking like it may not have to do with medications specifically. And there IS a possible treatment to help with the symptoms of these two diseases.
So no concrete answers - AGAIN - and if you have been reading my blogs then you may have a sense of how frustrating this gets.
Plus seeing the words: "Speculated Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder" was kind of a shock and a jolt to the heart. That's another serious and life-altering diagnosis if that is also a disease that I have. I was definitely in tears today - however it is GOOD news that my Crohn's and Pouchitis are not causing these new symptoms.
Another mixed bag today.
Good thing I have food from East Side Mario's and a couple of chocolate bars. Plus I got to spend some more quality hospital time with my parents. And I get to cuddle my puppy all night. And even more exciting is that I get some special company tomorrow (along with Decker, of course).
Stay tuned for further updates. :)
