Today I had to go and refill some medications. Primarily pain medications. These are the ones that allow me to have 'somewhat' of a normal life - they allow me to sit or stand or walk when I need to do pretty much anything. They are, in fact, probably the only reason that I am ever able to run my house or leave the house for that matter.
Here's the issue - it's not a big one, but it is still frustrating.
I am already having an 'off' day...
Back in August, I had a change of dosage in my meds. I got my main refill from my specialist who changed the dose... But, since I needed some other refills from my family doc, I (being the ultra control-freak, diligent, A-personality type) decided to update her on my increased dosage for next time.
The problem with doing this is that instead of making a note on the chart that the dosage had been changed and filled by my specialist (for one month), there was simply a note of the dosage, so it looks as though a prescription was made out for two months.
This means that when I saw my family doctor (10 days after my specialist), she thought that she had prescribed 2 months of the medication.
Luckily, the pharmacy watches very closely as well, so I was able to get another prescription from my specialist once the first month was up, but he is now on vacation and according to my family doctor, I cannot refill until Nov. 17th.
And I am out.. As of today.
Again, luckily I am well-known at the pharmacy and it is very well documented that there is absolutely no sign of any 'abuse' of pain medication, and they are aware of exactly when I have filled all of my prescriptions... So I will get it earlier than the 17th, but I will have to spend the next few days in absolute agony and withdrawal because of a simple miscommunication.
I guess it's a good thing that I don't have TOO much planned for the weekend. It's also a good thing that it is actually smart to take some days off of the med to increase its efficacy next week.
Could be a rough few days.
Wish me luck.
