Sometimes, there are things about being a girl that are really awful (like a cycle that lasts 7 weeks because my body can't adjust to the hormones... Or random cysts that grow and send sharp pains through my abdomen... )
But SOMETIMES, being a girl has some major perks!!
Right now my body has decided that I am due for a severe psoriasis attack. I mean, it HAS been a couple of years since the last devastating one... I've been lucky in the sense that my psoriasis mainly lies on my scalp, behind my ears, along my jaw line, and sometimes on my shoulders - all virtually imperceptible to the public.
This week, however, it's decided to attack my FACE!!!
At first, I had about six or seven really bad abscesses that needed to be dealt with. Then the skin on my face just seemed reeeeally dry.
So I increased the amount of lotion, then I changed to the dry-skin-repair heavy duty stuff, but it still wouldn't help.
You know how when your skin gets so dry, you get those little flecks of skin and little cracks everywhere? Kinda looks like concrete that didn't have quite enough time to dry - little pieces are crumbling off and there are cracks everywhere.
That is my face.
And NOW, my face looks like I had a badly administered chemical peel.
Red and raw ... The actual layer that's UNDER the skin is what is left.
Awesome.
So not only is it painful... But not exactly 'sexy'.
As luck would have it - I am a girl!!
That means that I own products that are specifically designed to hide and cover flaws.
Of course I stick with tinted moisturizer and try and steer clear of powders that will make the makeup look like it's also crumbling... But I can hide the raw and red chemical burn type face.
Just don't come visit me before bedtime.
I went so far as to putting straight coconut oil on my face to TRY and soothe it.
It hurts to smile and laugh and yawn.
So don't make me happy, don't make me giggle, and definitely don't make me tired or bored.
Got it?
;)
