Tip: Soothe those Crying Eyes

Ever find yourself breaking down while in public? Ever have to sneak to the washroom so that you can bawl your eyes out?

It is not uncommon to get emotional in public. You spend so much time forcing yourself to be strong, that sometimes you'll be in an inopportune setting when you finally break down in tears. Life is hard - for everyone - and it can just HIT you, out of the blue. But how do you hide the red, puffy, blotchy look that happens from crying or vomiting?

After I've had a good cry or a frustrating vomiting fit in a public washroom, it is important for me to walk out of that washroom without any indication of what just happened. Don't get me wrong here - it is absolutely okay to cry. In fact, I encourage it! If you need to cry, CRY. Get it out. Let those emotions flow right out of your head in tangible droplets of utter frustration. I just, personally, don't want everyone to know that I was crying.

So here is my tip:

Run the cold water tap on full blast for about a minute. Take some paper towel, get a corner of it wet with freezing cold water, and (very lightly) dab it underneath your eyes and on your eyelids. Use some eye drops, if you have any, to reduce the redness. And if you happen to have makeup with you, lightly dust some powder under your eyes. If you don't, then continue dabbing with cold water until the red blotches and puffiness start to disappear.
It sounds simple - but it works!!!
