Doodle and Daydream

Since our lives have been filled with insane technological advances, doodling and daydreaming are pass-times that aren't as frequently used.

If you were stuck on hold, waiting for people, bored at school, the usual instinct was to reach for a piece of paper and draw random shapes and pictures.
Now that we have an endless amount of games to play, social media feeds to catch up on, and messages to send, why would anyone want to doodle anymore?

We have become so obsessed with connecting with everyone else that we have forgotten to use our own imagination and actually take a break.
In several studies it is noted that short 10 minute breaks every couple of hours can boost productivity. But what if you aren't actually resting during that 10 minutes? What if you are still stimulating your brain by reading every Twitter post and every Facebook status update?

The increased productivity may not even happen!

Having downtime to daydream and exercise your imagination has been lost in this constantly changing social networking era.
It is important to exercise your brain in every area and at several levels... So the next time you feel bored, put the phone or tablet down, grab yourself a pen and paper, and just let your mind wander. Contrary to how we may feel, that Facebook post, that Twitter retweet, even that text message from a friend you haven't spoken to in weeks, does NOT require an immediate response within the next ten minutes.

Let your imagination loose, let your focused energy rest, and refresh your focus by allowing it to wander aimlessly for a few minutes. It might just do you some good.
