A few weeks ago, although feeling incredibly rotten, I NEEDED to get to the grocery store. I was out of some over-the-counter medications and out of basic staple foods. So I bundled up in jeans, socks, boots, a nice jacket, and a cute knitted toque with a matching scarf and open-finger mittens.
I got there and was trembling a bit too much to carry a basket, so I leaned on a cart and - at a sloth's pace - went about my shopping.
Although I was a little out of it, I was happy to see a few sampling tables up with jams and cheese and little toasty things. This was what the seller said to me:
"So, all day, everyone who has come in here has been wearing jean shorts, tank tops, sunglasses, and even flip flops.... And then you come in here looking like it's -30 outside! Can you tell me what it's actually like out there?"
Aw, man....
😒

Too fatigued and brain foggy to come up with any vague and dismissive made-up answer, I admitted to being ill and that it was actually 17 above outside.
Normally this interaction would have been more comical than anything else, but that day it just felt like a stark reminder of how different life in general feels when you feel rotten the majority of the time. For whatever reason, even without having a fever, when you're weak and shaky and feeling awful, you also tend to shiver and feel cold to the core.
But here's the good news:
I live in Canada, so I have ample supply of really cute warm clothes and I am used to layering my outfits. That way, I can still look cute and stylish while shivering, and can then remove one or two pieces of clothing when I start to feel warmer or stronger.
