That Perfect Position

When you have stomach discomfort, it can take forever to find a position that truly allows you to rest.

Right now my stomach is a combination of burning anxiety, restlessness, uncomfortable, painful, and like I just found out the worst news of my life - that dropped-bottom upside-down stomach burn.

Nothing is helping. I keep thinking food will make it better... and then it doesn't. Or I refrain from eating, but that doesn't help either. Not heat pads. Not cold compresses. Not medication. No activity. This discomfort is just something I have to grin and bear. The worst part is that I don't know when, or even IF, this pain will subside.

But finally, as I was watching a flick, I curled up into the fetal position, warm and cuddled up with blankets, and for a few minutes the discomfort had ceased. I had found that perfect position where everything FEELS better even though nothing has really changed.
It did not last very long, of course, but for a few minutes I felt restful.
