So So Close!

Yesterday was my follow-up appointment with my Hematologist. We went over some recent bloodwork, I updated her on the surgery situation change, went over recent episodes and symptoms, and put in a referral to an HAE specialist here in the city.

There are several things that went well in this appointment.

1. No Diabetes!!

2. She has already spoken to the HAE specialist about me. There has been some confusion as to which type of HAE that I have (type 1, type 2, or type 3). The only difference between the types is what the bloodwork shows. The symptoms and severity are the same across the board. It sounds like this new specialist is thinking type 3 and plans to hopefully try a prophylactic medication to help prevent swells before they occur. So close to trying treatment!

3. My bloodwork came back positive for Mono. So when I was sleeping absolutely nonstop for those two months, I did, in fact, have Mononucleosis. This isn't good news exactly but it explains that extra-intense exhaustion.

There is also a basic consensus that something auto-immune is happening at the very base of my system. We just can't quite figure out what it is or what to even test for... but something is definitely an underlying cause of all of these auto-immune diseases and symptoms.

I am very glad that I am being well looked after.

Plus, after that awful appointment a couple of weeks ago, I needed to have a really good appointment. Thanks Karma. :)
