New Step, New Hair

One of my lifelong traditions is to go and pamper myself a bit after a stay in the hospital. After days or weeks in a hospital, nothing feels better than a long hot shower or bath in my own shower, then getting nails and hair done. It helps me feel fresh and helps me force myself to look forward and have a new start - find a new baseline.

I had to wait several weeks after surgery to do these things (apart from the shower). I needed to build enough strength to drive, then to sit for several hours, sometimes in very uncomfortable positions, while paying to be pampered.

Last week I managed to get my nails redone, which was awesome, but yesterday I was able to get my hair done (over a month after surgery). I decided to go a little crazy. I had always wanted to try some crazy colors in my hair, but it would have been inappropriate in my former jobs. But, since I no longer work, and while I am still young, I thought it was a good time to try something new and crazy.

I am very happy I waited over a month after surgery to do this though - four and a half hours, using my abs to sit up and lay back - I could not have physically done that any earlier.
So now I have 'unicorn' hair... platinum blonde with blue and purple streaks! How fun!!!

And now I find a new baseline.
Now that I am off of the Lupron, now that my female organs are all gone, it will be interesting to unravel the difference in symptoms that I will experience. I am already seeing some significant differences, but I still have yet to start hormone replacement therapy, so I won't know what my 'new normal' is going to be for a few months yet. Things are absolutely going to be different... so I shut the door to my old 'normal' and look forward to learning about my body all over again.
