I recently had an MRI done to check on the progression of my Ankylosing Spondylitis. The results were a little sobering - it just kind of made it more real to see it right there on paper and read the word "erosion" - but that's not the point of this post.
I was removing all of my jewelry and was about to put my engagement ring in its box. (Yes I carry the original box with me sometimes, especially when I KNOW I will be in doctor's offices and may need to remove it). Anyways, the nurse told me that it wasn't actually necessary to remove my ring. Apparently, if it is real gold, the giant MRI magnet will not cause a problem, and they don't want to be liable for lost property that sentimentally valuable.
So ladies - if you are at all concerned about whether your ring is real or not, you would find out rather quickly if you get an MRI.
Haha.
