A Running Store

Finishing up some Christmas shopping the other day, I found myself in a store dedicated to running gear. I was, of course, sporting my cane as I walked in, and started looking around.
I have to say that the gentleman working was not only friendly and helpful, but a good sport in dealing with my sense of humour.
After looking and deciding what I would purchase, I went to pay for everything, and he (instinctively) asked if I wanted to join a free membership program for runners if I saw myself shopping there on a regular basis.

I smiled, then winked, and said:
"Did you happen to notice the cane I walked in with?"
Of course I was being funny but the poor guy flushed and felt bad. I was laughing my butt off. I told him that I would not sign up that day but that if I ever get back into running or start buying items there for friends more often then I would sign up, through his store, at a later date.
He then asked me a bit about my health and we chatted for a couple of minutes.

Sometimes the best moments in a day come from finding the comical side of a situation that could otherwise be uncomfortable, and I'm thrilled that the guy found it funny (once he relaxed).
