Sulfate-Free

With several inflammatory conditions that affect several parts of my body, I tend to get lots of advice on how to improve certain symptoms. Sometimes it is solicited, sometimes not.
At a nail place when they see the ridges and the state of my real nails, I often get advice on products that I can use to improve my nail strength.
When I get my makeup done for photo shoots or weddings or the like, I often receive advice on improving my skin based on the illnesses that affect the state of my skin.
With so many allergies I often receive advice on different skin care lines, laundry detergents, oils, diet, or anything else that can trigger allergies.
With the inflammatory bowel disease, I very often receive advice on new diets to try in order to heal the inflammation in my guts.

I am always willing to research and learn about many of these options, and in some cases I will try something brand new.
I just recently researched and even purchased a new skincare product from a recent suggestion. I will let you know how I find it once I try it out!

The most impactful suggestion was actually pretty recently. With my psoriasis mostly affecting my scalp lately, whenever I get my hair trimmed, I am often told of different hair products to try and use to help reduce the scalp psoriasis and subsequent dandruff. Everyone usually gets advice on the best hair products for their hair - this is definitely not disease-specific.
The last suggestion I received was to try using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but I did purchase the travel-size option. Surprisingly enough to me, the sulfate-free hair products have actually seemingly made a huge difference on my scalp. I do notice that my hair gets greasier a bit more quickly, but I rarely have to worry about dandruff from the psoriasis.
I have also reduced the amount of hair dye I use (haven't bleached my hair in over 2 years), the amount of heat I use on my hair, and I have been using hair lotions and sleeping with my hair braided to increase its strength.
Bottom line - in my opinion I do find that the sulfate-free hair products have greatly decreased the amount of flare-ups of the psoriasis on my scalp.

With Winter coming, let's see if that continues shall we?
