Quick tip:
If you have complex, chronic illness, having a note in your wallet that explains all pertinent medical information could be a life saver.
I have likely posted about this before, but the more complicated my health becomes, the more important this feels to me.
Due to so many medical issues, I wear a medicalert bracelet every day. (You can find pretty ones with The ID Band Company, which is where I order mine from). While there are options for things like allergies and specific diseases, the amount of information in my history is too long to fit on any bracelet or necklace, so I have a few that simply say: "See Wallet Card" or "Complex History".
Then I have a piece of paper in my wallet that describes my illnesses, past surgeries, current medications, and (most importantly) my allergies.
I am fortunate enough that I have not been in any kind of accident where I was unconscious for EMTs, so I have always been conscious for any questions. However, having this in place puts my mind at ease.
I also tape on the medical alert image onto the piece of paper so that it is easy for someone to find in an emergency.
There are many times I have had to bring out this list when going to the ER, when I have had to call an ambulance, or for appointments. Sometimes (especially when I am in a ton of pain or experiencing extra distracting symptoms) I can't focus and may forget a medication or an allergy. This ensures that I have an updated list with me that I can easily hand to a medical professional if I can't quite think straight.
Just a little safety net worth putting together, just in case.
