Move For Sight 2026

Today I participated in Move For Sight 2026 to help raise funds for Fighting Blindness Canada

I had vowed to reach 500 minutes of activity for today since I signed up a couple months ago and I crushed it! Any movement, from yoga to walking to playing some summer slo-pitch, I was moving for sight!

I, myself, have Basal Laminar Drusen (a type of Familial Drusen), which has already progressed to Geographic Atrophy. I also have Dragged Fovea Diplopia Syndrome (double vision). These issues have all had an effect on various parts of my life.
The double vision and Geographic Atrophy have changed some of my hobbies and I have voluntarily given up night driving because of it.

Research and technology is so important for blindness-causing diseases. Gadgets like Bioptic Lenses, along with more accessible services and programs like CNIB all help people with varying eye diseases maintain independence, which is vital!

While I may keep my peripheral vision, any vision loss has a cascading effect on daily life. So I am moving for more research & technology. I am moving for hope and for independence.
