It ended up being a really productive appointment.
First, he gave me new contacts to try. Not too sure how I feel about them yet. Second, he sent me over to Shoppers to get some eye drops. He has one patient on them who has Sjogren's and she absolutely loves them. He asked me to pick up some regular eye drops as well, then reminded me to continue taking Vitalux and fish oils. I picked up extra when I was at Shoppers.
Then he spoke with me about prescription drops that are available as well as tear duct plugs that, worst case scenario, I could have put in if I wanted them. Talk about as a last resort. Really interesting though! You can have 'plugs' placed into your lower tear ducts to block the flow of tears so that they remain on the eye longer! How cool is that?? At least it's interesting.
The unfortunate thing about the prescription drops is that the active ingredient is Doxycycline. I am already on Doxycycline for two week cycles alternating with other anti-biotics - which means that if I am getting horrible dry eye on this medication, then there is no chance that the prescription drops will improve things.
Go figure.
But I also managed to find new eyeglass frames that were on sale!
The great thing about having a small head is that, because I have to buy kid's glasses, they are always less expensive. Even though most kid's glasses are very... Juvenile-looking (for obvious reasons), there are some that look pretty great! Yay for a deal find on kid's glasses!! :)
And no, they are not the Disney brand.
Just a quick update on my appointments this week.
Football Sunday tomorrow - weekend will be great.
