So I had a to-do list for today.
It included working on a project for the wedding, watering the front lawn, and writing a very specific and very detailed blog post. Then I was hoping to create a few pieces of paperwork for the wedding, work on the groom's gift that I have planned, practice music, and take Dex for a walk.
Obviously that was way more than I could ever possible handle in one day.
So I managed to stop halfway through one project. (I hate admitting this but this is actually a good thing for my health).
I then watered the front lawn - but I found a way to water it all in one shot instead of having to move the sprinkler to different spots to get everything.
I clearly did not manage to write the detailed/lengthy blog post that I had planned, I did not take Dex for a walk (I, instead, sat on our bench and threw the ball for him until he was pooped), and I couldn't work on the groom's gift. I also skipped making the wedding documents, cooking dinner, and writing out cards I meant to write.
I stuck with basically a tv dinner... but I DID manage to indulge in a 5-minute steam cake to celebrate the arduous task of stopping when I knew my body required it, instead of finishing what I started today.
The project is halfway finished... but it will still be halfway finished tomorrow... or even the next day if I don't get around to it tomorrow.
So, begrudgingly, I am congratulating myself for fighting my instinct to work on a task until it is completed.
It is a lot tougher than it sounds.
