Cimzia - Dose 2

Last night I did a second dose of Cimzia.

Cimzia is a new biologic I am trying in hopes that it will help to reduce inflammation in my SI Joints, spine, ribs, and shoulder blades,  and even slow down the progression of the disease.

Fight the fusion!!

Here is the problem.
I have ultimately suffered an allergy or intolerance to several biologic medications already. This is my last option (for now... it seems like whenever I am told it is my last option, they come out with a new biologic for me to try).
This time, I was prescribed a 50mg dose of Prednisone and a 50mg dose of Benadryl in hopes to counteract the reaction.
This is important because if it is a true-to-form allergy, the Benadryl and Prednisone should prevent an immune response. If, however, it is because the biologic is exacerbating my Hereditary Angioedema, then Benadryl and Prednisone will not have much of an effect, if at all.

The result?

I'm not confident on either. It seemed like a slightly lesser reaction than my first dose, but not enough of a difference.
I still feel very strange and on the cusp of a severe episode. The worst part of it is that this fence-straddling lasted 2 weeks the first time... and I am technically supposed to do this injection every 2 weeks.

Only time will tell.

On the plus side - I found my new family physician yesterday!!
I was so nervous for the appointment my resting heart rate had jumped to nearly 120bpm. I do have tachycardia so my heart rate is usually between 85-100. But still, higher than my normal.
He still has to get my chart transferred over and read my medical history, but it seems like a good fit.
Here's hoping!! 🤞🏻
