Craft Corner

Truth be told, I have never ever ever previously liked crafts.
Craft day at school?
I would want to call in sick or take a math class instead.
Painting or drawing?
Frustrating as all hell. The very few decent projects I created when I was younger were done with such frustration and annoyance that even a nice finished product was not enough to get me to continue.

So what has changed?
Well... not really anything... except that I have found a few artistic projects (apart from writing and music) that I actually enjoy.
Creating the bouquets and centerpieces for our wedding came out of financial necessity, but I actually enjoyed those projects.
Writing out cards and seating charts and table names were also enjoyable, though I found myself lacking in skill.

Now I am attempting to build that skill.
I now have a crafting area in our home. (I seriously never even considered the idea before). But I enjoy it. It is another form of artistic expression that I seem to pick up decently quickly - so I am going to hone in on it and focus on what I like.

In a craft area.

What is happening to me?!?

I guess since illness removes other hobbies and habits that I was once passionate about, I need to find new hobbies and habits to fill my time and my mind. Illness does that. It can shift your focus and your perspective. It has sure shifted mine... and has helped me grow more diverse.
What a cool side effect of being riddled with chronic illness!
